Title: Ogg Vorbis Vs. Opus?
Post by: Prisoner416 on June 08, 2020, 03:00:14 PM
I have a Sansa Fuze, and currently convert most of my music to Ogg Vorbis. However, I know Opus is a newer format, encodes quicker, and is said by some to be better audio qualitywise.

At the same time, I think it takes more memory to decode and battery drain. I haven't done a blind test run, but I'm curious which format people here would prefer for typical listening.

The opus decoder isn't quite as well optimized, so vorbis is probably a little more power efficient.

I use Vorbis but I set the quality at 7.

I also use Flac. I don't know if this works with the Fuze, but with the Fuze+, you can use larger microSD cards with Rockbox, than the Sansa firmware allows. This allows you to use less compression.

I use mpc ( q6 and some q7 ) in my mini, works fine.
