Title: On Debian, my iPod 5 is mounted, but mountpoint doesn't show up in dropdown
Post by: number3pencils on January 28, 2018, 12:45:11 AM
First-time user, hi everyone.

So, I got an iPod 5, and I downloaded the Utility. Plug in the iPod, fire up the Utility, and pull up the "Configuration" window. That tells me, "Select your device in the filesystem." I try clicking the autodetect button, but no dice. So I click on the dropdown under "Select your device...". Well, it's empty. The Utility doesn't seem to know I've got any device plugged in, even though three different file managers all see it at /media/iPod/. And I can't enter that in as a mountpoint, because it's a dropdown.

So I'm kind of dead in the water. Any idea how to proceed?

Info: MX Linux 16 (Debian-based distro), iPod model A1136, Rockbox 1.4.0.

Still don't know what happened with this, but I was able to get it installed via Windows instead and now it's playing nice with Linux. So I don't need the answer, but if someone has one, another person might want it someday.

I have an iPod 6th Gen that was working perfectly for several months and then suddenly gave 'no partition found' error and when I connect it to the Rockbox installer it says 'no mountpoint'.
Desperately need help trying to fix this as well as I have a very large music library and have spent a lot of time updating tags and such and now I'm afraid it's all lost!

Would be interesting what the dialog Help / Troubleshooting / System Info shows for the player.

I don't see how this is related to the original post -- you haven't stated much. Are you on Linux? Does the Ipod show up in a file browser? Do you still see the "no partition found" error in Rockbox? If any of those is true this really sounds like a different issue.

Also, please don't cross post. It won't magically end up people having more time to answer your question.
