Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: What features should be added to theming spec?
« Last post by iPodVT on Today at 06:34:40 PM »I would love it if my theme could make a call that specified the pathname to a file - presumably a text file - and then get returned the contents of the file in the form of a string. Of course, the amount of text returned would have to be fairly limited. Maybe the text file could contain a number of strings delimited by carriage returns, and then the call from the theme could specify the pathname to the file and the index of the desired string. A failed call could just return a zero length string. I would be thrilled even if it was only one short string per call and/or per file.

Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: What features should be added to theming spec?
« Last post by Frankenpod on Today at 04:57:17 PM »Maybe an option when displaying album art to rotate it?
Either in increments of 90degrees in the plane of the screen (i.e. ability to show it sideways or upside down) or (presumably more complex and more work for the device's processor) to display it with a perspective change, as if rotated perpendicular to the screen (kind of like what happens with the Picture Flow plugin or the ipod's original 'cover flow'). Some themes already have a kind of faked perspective rotation effect which really just clips off the edges of the image but doesn't actually change the perspective.

Hardware / Sansa Fuze (and perhaps others) - How to avoid wearing out internal flash?
« Last post by meyertime on June 09, 2023, 12:47:15 PM »I understand that these devices are prone to have their internal flash stop functioning, at which point, it won't take any more writes. This happened to my Sansa Clip+. This makes sense due to the way flash memory works, the fact that these devices are so old now, and considering that flash memory technology was not as advanced back then.
I have a Sansa Fuze that I want to make sure this doesn't happen to, so I want to avoid any and all writes to the internal flash once it is set up how I want it.
Firstly, I know that it's possible to boot Rockbox from the microSD card once there's a new enough version of the Rockbox bootloader installed on the internal flash. I also know how to set the recording directory so that recordings go directly to the microSD card. So my remaining question is this:
Is there anything else that Rockbox will write to internal flash memory if it is booted from the microSD card?

Rockbox General Discussion / Re: Wanted: Sansa Fuze
« Last post by meyertime on June 09, 2023, 12:32:47 PM »Exciting update: I did manage to find a Fuze with an RDA5802 FM chip! However, I am still interested in more such devices.
An eBay seller finally responded to me, and their device had the chip I was looking for. So once I get it, I'll be modifying Rockbox to make the extended FM frequencies available. If I'm successful, I'll be searching for more devices for friends and for backup.

Theming and Appearance Customization / What features should be added to theming spec?
« Last post by Dook on June 09, 2023, 09:07:49 AM »From what I can tell, it's been almost 10 years since the theming spec has had any major additions. There's still some pretty big changes that never got merged (like for example this one from jdgordon that would've added multiple album art tags in one file) I thought I'd try get some discussion going to see what things could be changed or added to the spec in the future. Of course the biggest thing has to be that any tags in the existing spec cannot be changed in order maintain compatability.
Some points I can think of to start:
Some points I can think of to start:
- How can the skinned menu list feature be improved to support user's chosen line selector colours, fonts of different sizes etc.
- What changes can be made to support features like Lockscreens?
- How would a dynamic colour system based on the current song's album art work? What would it look like?
- Are there other parts of the Rockbox system that should be exposed for people to theme? The quickcreen, colour selection screen, or even keyboard?
- Should the USB screen be more theme-able? Is the USB image something which themes should be able to add for themselves?

Unsupported Builds / Re: SANSA ClipZip Clip+ Fuze+ FuzeV2 Multiboot Bootloader and Firmware
« Last post by cj17 on June 08, 2023, 09:16:15 PM »Hi,
Thanks for your help and please excuse if this is a silly question but does the bootloader get installed on the device or the SD card?
Also, I just copied the latest daily build onto the SD card as I thought that had the bootloader - so that's not right?
Previously I did use the utility to install and did select the bootloader to install but that didn't work either so I must be missing something.
Can somebody please clarify a couple of things for me:
1/ Is it necessary to use a dev build or does this work with the latest stable version?
2/ Is the Multiboot bootloader different from the regular bootloader?
It says above that "Multiboot bootloaders for Sansa Clip+ ClipZip, Fuze+ Fuzev1 and Fuzev2 are now on the mainsite" but there's no link and I've looked but not found them - where are they?
I'm keen to get this working but can't see what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for all the help with figuring this out! Much appreciated!

Hardware / Re: I need cowon d2 emulator, but the link is dead, can anyone send a file to me?
« Last post by saratoga on June 08, 2023, 05:55:10 PM »Keep in mind it also doesn't emulate the actual D2, just simulates the screen size and buttons.

New Ports / Re: Fiio M3k
« Last post by cereal_killer on June 08, 2023, 05:14:06 PM »I've got few measurements for digital filters and DAC power mode illustrations.
Test signal is local file generated in REW software. 4kHz square signal, 192k sample rate, PCM24.
I am curious what the interpretation of these graphs is.

« Last post by Ant1 on June 08, 2023, 02:58:13 PM »I am also would like to hear about such devices.
Looking for something with mic jack and rockbox for wav recordings.
Some voice recorders available on the market uses some mp3 or other codecs, but not wav. It would be nice to have it for my hobby with pocket PC recordings.
