Title: Utility freezes during installation on iPod 5th gen (win 7 x64) [solved]
Post by: Rompscump2 on February 07, 2012, 12:12:42 PM
The Rockbox utility freezes when I attempt to install the software onto my 5th gen iPod. I am using Windows 7 64-bit.

When I choose to install (both complete and minimal) the 'Progress' window appears and displays:
"Downloading bootloader file
Download finished (cache used).
Installing Rockbox bootloader"
The bar is completely green and shows 100%

When I click on the window, it changes to 'Progress (not responding)'.

Is that Ipod actually an Ipod 5G? How does it behave when you install Rockbox, i.e. not use the "Quick Start" tab? Do you have an antivirus program or similar running? Does it help shutting that off during installation?

I'm suspecting some other software interfering here. Rockbox Utility needs to directly access the drive when installing the bootloader, which is something an antivirus program could try to block (resulting in strange behaviour in Rockbox Utility).

Also, please post the output of the About / System Info dialog.

I managed to install the software by leaving the supposedly crashed window open until it started responding again.
