or is possible this jack to use LINE-IN RECORDING whitout cradle?
thanks

I have the same problem. I need to record from external source using headphone jack, but it seems doesn't works. I select line in settings record source.
Any idea ?

I don't know too much about microphones, but as far as I know, most mics need some volts power supplied by the jack they're plugged in. If your DAP cannot provide this power through the headphone jack, I don't see how you could record.
Since I don't own a h10, I cannot prove this.

It doesn't work on the H10, the headphone jack is just an output, not an input.

with rockbox firmware if select record line-in, the line-out convert in line-in, verified,
but for microphone i think need preamplifier

Are you sure? Have you testing by giving it a signal? I remember that one of the devs said that the only line-in connector is in the dock.

i have try, if i put "Line-in" in configuration source recording works fine, not is need cradle.
Only with rockbox firmware, with original iriver firmware not works this.

Have you confirmed that you've actually got a line in and that you're not just picking up cross talk? With a good ADC you can sometimes record signals without actually plugging in your instrument. That doesn't mean the air is a line in port...

Hi,
would be really interesting if H10 20 GB can record by headphone jack. I tried it with my H10 color 5 GB. All seems to function but alas! there is not any audio signal coming in, when I select Line In as source by settings and select record function. After about 3 s the level indicator goes up to nearly 50% when level is set to maximum at all and both channels. Tried several mikes, also with build in battery. There's nothing coming in, level indicator seem to show only any noise. Recording this to file and listening gives only very low noise of amplifier. My goal: making records by OKM mikes at Line In at rock concerts. Audio level theres is ever very high, okm's output is then also rather high. If it's not enough for the Line In, I have to solder a small preamp with low noise opamps for some 10 euro.
However, I have to thank all rockbox developers, with rb I dont need to substitute cradle by modifying the plug! By this and generally Rb is a really nice work, am very impressed!
greetings
karl

I own a H10 20GB and I can verify without a doubt that the headphone jack does not function as a line-in jack in either Rockbox nor the Original Firmware, it is strictly for output. The only line-in jack is the one on the cradle.

with some old versions of rockbox firmware (Unavailables now), i try and working line-out to record (as if line-in).
I do not understand because they defused in new versions.

All old Rockbox code is still available in SVN. Feel free to point out which versions work for you.

not, all not,
havent a limit

What? I can't even guess what you're saying there. Use complete sentences.
