Title: Toshiba Gigabeat MEV30K
Post by: greggh on April 13, 2007, 12:08:15 PM
The MEV30K is Toshiba's new 30GB Gigabeat with a 3 1/2" display and a built in speaker. Sorry if this is a duplicate request but I did a search and couldn't find this model mentioned anywhere on these forums. Despite the large screen it's still very pocketable at 5" X 3". They must not be selling too well since you can find them for under $150. It would be great to get Rockbox on a Gigabeat with a screen this big that sells for so few $.

Please note the posting guidelines for the New Ports forum:

Quote
One thread per player. This is not for requesting ports to players. This is for discussion of working on them. If there is no post for your player of interest, you may start a thread. But discussion should then be of what is necessary to make the port happen, not "how great it would be" to have that port. As well, do not post simply to ask how a port is progressing. That will be considered disruptive, as it is unnecessary.

I think this might fall in line w/ a Gigabeat S port. It uses the same firmware, and I don't think the internal hardware is much different from the S. The V probably has a couple of different components, but for the most part I beleive a S port could be easily adapted to a V port.

Like PTW49 says, it should be the same process as the gigabeat S.

I should receive a V30 next week.
I will open it and do an hardware analysis.

If people are interested, they can already work on the software as there is an update available from toshiba :
