Title: ipod Classic 6g limits (dual use iPod OS and rockbox)?
Post by: bartimeaus on April 26, 2018, 02:07:47 PM
I'm aware that the stock iPod OS on my ipod classic is limited to 128gb.

I'm thinking of upgrading the total memory to 256gb.

Is it possible to have it in such a way that the iPod OS recognises the first 128gb and then ignores the rest of the 128gb?

And subsequently can Rockbox then read the entire 256gb?

This way I could set up in such a way that iPod OS reads 128gb so that I can store mp3s and the remainder of storage space be used to store FLAC which I will play using rockbox?

I think it is possible to partition the drive (one with 128gb and one with the remaining space) and the Apple OS will only see the 128gb partition and Rockbox will see both partitions.

Ooh, interesting. Should I partition using ipod's disk mode or rockbox's disk mode though?
