Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Create playlists from PC?
« Last post by jeedai12 on March 20, 2025, 05:01:07 PM »Is it possible? AI gave me this guide. It it correct?
Here's a step-by-step guide to mass obtain file paths and create 3 playlists for your iPod Classic running Rockbox on Windows 11:
1. Obtain File Paths
Connect your iPod Classic to your Windows 11 PC.
Open File Explorer and navigate to your iPod's music directory.
Open Command Prompt by pressing Win + R, typing "cmd", and pressing Enter.
In Command Prompt, navigate to your iPod's music directory using the cd command.
Use the following command to generate a list of all music file paths:
text
dir /s /b *.mp3 *.m4a *.wav > musicfiles.txt
This will create a file named "musicfiles.txt" containing all music file paths.
2. Create Playlists
Open Notepad or any text editor.
Open the "musicfiles.txt" file generated in step 1.
Create three new text files for your playlists (e.g., "playlist1.m3u8", "playlist2.m3u8", "playlist3.m3u8").
Copy and paste the desired file paths from "musicfiles.txt" into each playlist file.
Ensure each song path is on a new line in the playlist files.
3. Format Playlists for Rockbox
Edit the file paths in each playlist to be relative to the iPod's root directory.
For example, change:
text
E:\Music\Artist\Album\Song.mp3
to:
text
/Music/Artist/Album/Song.mp3
Save the playlist files with the ".m3u8" extension.
4. Transfer Playlists to iPod
Create a "Playlists" folder in the root directory of your iPod if it doesn't exist already.
Copy the three playlist files (playlist1.m3u8, playlist2.m3u8, playlist3.m3u8) to the "/Playlists/" folder on your iPod.
5. Verify Playlists in Rockbox
Safely eject your iPod from the PC.
Boot into Rockbox on your iPod Classic.
Navigate to the Playlist Catalog in Rockbox.
You should now see your three new playlists available for playback.
By following these steps, you'll have successfully created and transferred three custom playlists to your iPod Classic running Rockbox. Remember that Rockbox will automatically recognize both .m3u and .m3u8 playlist formats.

Rockbox Utility / Re: New user installation help!!! (1st time user)
« Last post by philden on March 20, 2025, 04:39:53 PM »There are guides on line, but you can also just follow the instructions in Bootcamp Assistant. You can use the Windows iTunes if you need to reformat your iPod to Windows, before installing Rockbox
It doesn't take long, so if you have a friend with a Windows computer, that could be an option.
The only inconvenience I had is that the computer was slow to reboot, using Option to select the boot disk, unless I disconnected all of my external drives first.

« Last post by mike1978 on March 20, 2025, 11:42:46 AM »I too have a Mac running 10.14.6. I set up a Bootcamp installation of Windows 10 to install Rockbox on a 7th Gen iPod. The free Windows install was good enough for this.
I have never used BootCamp before, so is there a webpage that shows how to do this? Also, is the free Windows install the same one that is on this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO
thanks

Feature Ideas / Computer interface (or integration to Logitech / Lyrion Music Server)
« Last post by jallen1227 on March 20, 2025, 11:08:10 AM »Hi,
I would suggest a computer interface - whether an app, similar to itunes, or webpage - allow the user to move around music on their device or create custom playlists, change settings on the device, etc.
Additionally, suggest an interface to the Logitech / Lyrion Music Server then device could be used as a Big Old Disk to stream high-quality must from via the LMS.

« Last post by RomanB on March 20, 2025, 08:20:22 AM »Hallo. I woul like ask if there is any posibility multi boot-ing (from micro SD card) on Sansa E200R. Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: OneBit / OneBit VFD
« Last post by Thermoptic on March 20, 2025, 06:33:10 AM »Great that worked! Settings > Theme Settings > Line Selector Type > Bar Solid Color
But still would be great if the next update of the theme could have this as standard from the cfg instead of you having to change it, for those how dont know how to change this. Thanks!

Personally that issue wouldn't bother me. You could edit the .cfg file yourself to uncomment that bit, or just set the line selector type via the settings menu.

« Last post by Frankenpod on March 20, 2025, 04:44:43 AM »I'm not the theme author, but, looking at the theme, I would guess it's because the "selector type" line in the .cfg file is commented out, so presumably it's just keeping the selector type that the previous theme set (looks like 'inverse' in the picture).

« Last post by Thermoptic on March 19, 2025, 08:21:10 PM »Just love this theme, great work!
Testing the VFD version on my iPod Classic and iPod Video and noticed that the "current selected color" in the menus does not look like the one in the screenshots you have posted. In the screenshots the selected item has a white colored text and the rest of the text in the menus are grey. But as you can see in my photo there is no white color, instead its a grey background. Is there a bug in the theme or is it some setting I need to change? Thanks!
