Title: Running "ipodpatcher --scan"
Post by: darksidedog on January 07, 2007, 03:35:57 PM
I have been following the manual, and when I go run the Command ipodpatcher --scan, it says that it is not recognized as a command. I'm stuck here, any suggestions?

Firstly, what operating system are you using (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, something else) ?

If you are on Windows, then you need to create a folder called "rockbox" at the top-level (root) of your C: drive (i.e. C:\rockbox), save ipodpatcher.exe into that folder, then open a command prompt, then type:

Code: [Select]
c:
cd \rockbox
ipodpatcher --scan

Mac OS X and other Unix users need to save ipodpatcher into their "Desktop" folder, open a terminal, then type:

Code: [Select]
cd Desktop
chmod +x ipodpatcher
./ipodpatcher --scan

I have done that, thank you. (I'm running Windows XP)

And now I must install the bootloader, It is in C:Rockbox/bootloader-ipodvideo.ipod

And now when I type in the prompt (Device #2) it says that the file cannot be found.

What exactly are you typing?  Also, is the command prompt displaying "C:\rockbox >" when you type it?

C:\ Rockbox>ipodpatcher [2] -a bootloader-ipodvideo.ipod

That is what I am entering.

Try this:

ipodpatcher 2 -a bootloader-ipodvideo.ipod
