Hi All-
I'm hoping to generate interest in an "Ignore 'The' When Sorting" option (i.e., for artists in tagcache). All my other media apps do this, and I think it's great.
Somebody mentioned maybe tagnavi - nothing in the pdf manual, but the wiki lists this as a feature request, so I guess it's not possible there.
There is also this patch: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/2885 , but that seems to handle filetree, not tagcache, so it's not quite right. (And would it still work with the recent changes last week?)
I know, I know, just retag and be done with it, but that's not quite right. It's nice to see Now Playing display 'The' if that's how the band is named, but easier to search for in lists if the sort ignores it.
So, any skilled patchers out there who don't have enough do already...please? I know many would appreciate it!

i second having this option too! I use it when I play on winamp with the album lister plug-in. Very nice indeedy.

I know I've seen this discussion before, and could swear there is something in the feature requests for it, but as the keyword search 'The' will return everything, I won't even try to find it.
But it's been discussed.

That'll be this one, then: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/2554

There's a patch on the tracker that does exactly this. I've added it to my latest ipod build.
I can't find it on the tracker again though...

senab, that's great :D
...now we just have to get accelerated scrolling back, so that I can use your latest release! imo, these are the only two critical features the official release is missing.
