Rockbox General Discussion / Devices keep getting banned
« Last post by HungryDaze on March 12, 2025, 08:27:41 AM »Hello! My devices keep getting banned from the forum.
At first, I was able to log in to the forum from all of my devices, then my mobile phone got banned, and yesterday my home PC. I still can log in from my laptop (and I have a spare one
), but the ice is getting thinner. Help!

Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: SNAZZY
« Last post by Misery on March 11, 2025, 10:53:32 PM »Misery,
I absolutely love this theme. It is fantastic and makes a lot of great improvements over the SPAZZ theme.
As someone who has had a digital music collection for a long time, I was not always the best at tagging my tracks, and as a result, I am missing a lot of artwork. Because of this, I like the way that the original SPAZZ theme handled the lock screen just by having lock text over the volume slider. It also reminds me of the stock firmware with the small padlock icon.
I have tried to alter the theme to bring back the original lock screen, but my theming knowledge is rudimentary at best (non existent, really). Can you help me understand what I should be looking for or changing to bring back the SPAZZ lock screen? I understand that I need to alter the text in the wps file, but from there I am lost.
Again, still an amazing theme that cranks up the usability over the original. As someone newer to Rockbox, adding the menu and sub menu titles at the top of the screen really help me remember which menu I have got lost in. Keep up the great work!
let me know if there's any issues.

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: View Current Playlist
« Last post by iPodVT on March 11, 2025, 10:23:54 PM »Yeah, it occurred to me, too, that Add To Playlist would be a bit out of place among all the other items already in the Database and Files context menus.
Adding every file on the device to a playlist in one fell swoop is potentially a pretty gigantic operation. Is there currently an "Are you sure you want to proceed?" query before it actually kicks off for that case? (I'm afraid to try it to find out... ;-)
If you modify Create Playlist to the single purpose of gathering all tracks on the player, would you alter its name to something more descriptive along the lines of (though probably less verbose than) Create Playlist From All Tracks?

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: View Current Playlist
« Last post by chris_s on March 11, 2025, 09:10:11 PM »Thanks for the idea. In theory, yeah. Doesn't fit too well with the existing menu items, though. The database already supports selecting all tracks, e.g. by adding (all) 'Artists' to a new playlist, so that should be covered (the sorting of tracks is another matter, but there are some patches for that)
Adjusting it, so that "Create Playlist" creates a playlist from all tracks on the player under all circumstances, instead of having the behavior depend on what directory was last selected in the File Browser, as well as what "Recursively Insert Directories" is set to, makes the most sense to me, at this point.

- Remaining functionality that may be of use is to create a playlist from all files on disk (since you can't select the root directory from the File Browser)
Could you eliminate the Create Playlist item and then put an Add To Playlist item in the context menus that hang off the Database and Files items in the Main Menu that would, respectively, act on all tracks in the database or all tracks on the device?

Rockbox Utility / Re: Two Rockbox Utility observations
« Last post by iPodVT on March 11, 2025, 11:43:52 AM »Thanks for the comprehensive explanation.
It's incredible to me that not only is Rockbox such a great and ever improving/expanding program - it's also available for so many different devices.

Rockbox Utility / Re: Two Rockbox Utility observations
« Last post by speachy on March 11, 2025, 10:06:00 AM »I bumped up against another variant of the "which dev build will be installed?" issue:
I launched Rockbox Utility v1.5.1 on Windows 10, connected my ipod6g, used the Change button and Auto Detect button to make sure my device was properly recognized. The current Developement Version listed in Rockbox Utility's menu was 003da4d223 but the version that got installed was 3c4aed56c0 which was the immediately prior release.
The "dev build" is always the latest successful build done by the build farm. After every build round completes, the build-info file is updated, the relevant uploaded files are renamed into the permanent location, and aged-out files are removed. This doesn't take long, but there is a narrow window between these operations where things are briefly out of sync.
So that's what happened here. If you'd initiated the download ten seconds later I'd expect you'd have seen no discrepancy.
(Another scenario where the displayed-vs-download version will be different is if the latest build round failed for that target; in which case the file you'd download is the last successful build. Tracking the latest-successful build on a per-device basis adds a bunch of complexity and isn't worth it, since we aggressively work to ensure everything builds cleanly)

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: View Current Playlist
« Last post by iPodVT on March 11, 2025, 08:51:50 AM »Oh, now I see. I've never used Add to Playlist and it didn't occur to me that it offered an Add To New Playlist option. So that's somewhat less obscure than the current implementation of Create Playlist and it does make Create Playlist redundant. But it still leaves the issue of how to add all tracks on the device or all tracks in the database?
