Title: Help Help i've screwed up on Rockbox & i cant get up....!!!

hi guys i've got a bit of a nasty pickle here. lastnight i tried out the lastest version of Rockbox -V3.2 i guess- using the new auto installer under vista64. install went fine & Rockbox booted as advertized but after building up the database of my tunes -mainly Wav under itunes- most of songs became PECGV or something rather.

to make it short, i then proceeded to uninstall Rocbox using the windows auto installer/uninstaller. things seem to go fine till i pull it out & rebooted. the screen i got is this black screen with the following words...

"Rockbox boot loader
Version: 3.0
IPOD version:0x000B0011
Toshiba MK8010GAH
Partition 1: 0x0B 76193 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load Rockbox.Ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode"

however no matter how i reboot i get the above screen and holding SELECT+PLAY gets me nowhere except staring at the above letters.

question:can any Rockbox gurus here help me out (as im totally desperate & at the end of ma ropes) or am i inexplicably inexorably truly madly deeply fawkkk'd??!!!

O forgot to add that its a 5.5g 80gb ipod video - thxs

Yeah, iTunes does that.  It gives all your songs silly names like ADHS.mp3, 43UD.mp3, etc.  If you want to keep using iTunes and Rockbox simultaneously, you should use Rockbox's database feature, which allows you to navigate your music by it's tags rather than filenames.

You're nowhere near being fawkkk'd.  There are two parts to Rockbox - the bootloader (what's giving you that nice message there), and the build (".rockbox" directory on your disk).  So try uninstalling the bootloader (either with Rockbox Utility, or the manual process documented in the manual).  You should also still be able to boot into the Apple firmware using Rockbox's dual-boot feature (http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch3.html#x5-290003.1.3).

Oh, and for disk mode, after you reboot with menu+select, while it's booting up, you have to hold select+play.

The user mentioned they're WAV files, which don't have metadata. They can't be properly indexed in the database. If iTunes support is desired, and no quality loss is wanted, the only choice is probably ALAC (I assume iTunes supports it, it's an Apple format).

OMG OMG OMG Cool_Walking...dude u just save my life!!! LOL. i gots my ipod back! i was pressing SELECT+PLAY after reboot & not while it was rebooting - silly dumb ol me :-[

man did i thought i was totally screw'd as neither itunes nor even vista recognized it nor detected it!

I'm glad you got it sorted.  I understand your excitement, but please remember to use real words on these forums (reasons given in the forum guidelines).

ahahaha do pardon me for my lack of forum etiquette -must admit i havnt read it thru..mea culpa- but yaaa im totally stoked that the issue's solved & soo promptly too. again i wanna extend my thxs to this great support forum & ofcos to the the awesome Rockbox. im gonna rerip my stuff to either Flac or even Alac so i can start using Rockbox ;D

ahahahaha! again im caught lead footed - cant a guy get away with any faux pas around these 'er hills??  ;D suffice to say that it was a genuine mistake on my part. didnt even realize my english has gotten so bad. blame it on the advent of texting & lay it large on my girlfriend when i see her?? or is the other way around :-\
