Rockbox General Discussion / Re: RockBox on Sandisk Cip Sport Plus
« Last post by Thew on Today at 11:01:40 AM »Hi @Thew, why do you say:It’s technical as Rockbox requires RAM to run and the chip in the Sports Plus just doesn’t have enough. If you search this Forum you will find this has been pointed out many times. The newer chip used in the recent Sandisk players like the Sport Plus can't run Rockbox. Is there a technical reason, why Rockbox can not be compiled for the new chip

Is there a technical reason, why Rockbox can not be compiled for the new chip
OR
is it just a matter of time, resource and energy to cross-compile and test it?
As a long year happy user of Rockbox I might be willing to invest some of my time to contribute to the efforts required. Especially, since I just acquired the Sandisk Clip Sport Plus (32GB) without previously checking if Rockbox already supports it. But now I had to realize how much better the Rockbox interfaces and usability on my old Sandisk was. ;-)

Hardware / Re: Pictures of the Surfans F20 with a firmware version 2.7
« Last post by Trzyzet on March 23, 2023, 06:26:07 PM »Trying to figure out how the internal devices are connected and I'm tinkering with an ADB interface built-in into the firmware.
Because player is Linux based the easiest way will be to read what's into the /sys/module:
That's only example how ADB can be used to access to the F20 OS, there is a way more to discover, maybe me or someone will dig up to the volume control.
Because player is Linux based the easiest way will be to read what's into the /sys/module:
Code: [Select]
~$ adb shell ls /sys/module
block hid rcutree snd_usb_audio
bluetooth hidp rfcomm spurious
bnep jzmmc_v12 rfkill sysrq
bt_power_bluesleep kernel sa_config ubi
configfs keyboard scsi_mod ubifs
dwc2 mmc_core snd uinput
firmware_class mmcblk snd_asoc_dma_v12 usb_storage
fscache ntfs snd_asoc_i2s_v13 usbcore
fuse printk snd_asoc_pcm_v13 usbhid
g_android random snd_pcm vt
hci_uart rcupdate snd_timer workqueue
I completely forgot this player reads ntfs partitions but there is nothing interesting. Let's try /sys/devices/platform:Code: [Select]
~$ adb shell ls /sys/devices/platform
alarmtimer jz-asoc-pcm-dma jz-sfc.0 reg-dummy
bt_power jz-dma jz-uart.0 sa-config
gpio-keys jz-dwc2 jz-uart.2 sa-ring-keys
gpio-sw-regulators jz-fb jzmmc_v1.2.0 sa_information
ingenic-erosq.0 jz-i2c.1 pcm dump sa_sound_switch.0
jz-asoc-aic jz-i2c.2 pcm5102.0 snd-soc-dummy
jz-asoc-aic-dma jz-pwm power uevent
jz-asoc-pcm jz-rtc.0 pwm-backlight.0 wdt_reset.0
And lets try to check contents of the ingenic-erosq.0 folder:Code: [Select]
~$ adb shell ls /sys/devices/platform/ingenic-erosq.0
driver modalias subsystem
erosq-es9018_k2m-i2s power uevent
erosq-es9018_k2m-pcm sound
We can see es9018 which is our newer DAC!That's only example how ADB can be used to access to the F20 OS, there is a way more to discover, maybe me or someone will dig up to the volume control.

Plugins/Viewers / mpegplayer plugin doesn't work properly on my sansa clip zip
« Last post by jsr_278 on March 23, 2023, 05:33:59 PM »Hi, I have noticed that with the dev build of rockbox, mpegplayer doesn't play videos properly on my sansa clip zip. The sound plays fine but the video freezes at the begining. However, videos play fine with the build 4d01168b9b-220603 and rockbox 3.15.

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: how to watch movie by SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip
« Last post by bahus on March 23, 2023, 08:34:39 AM »Can you tell what Ruizu firmware is compatible with Sansa Cip Zip? Which model? It seems it also means that this Ruizu player is also rockboxable.
You can watch mpeg2 movies on Rockbox. See for details: https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginMpegplayer

Rockbox General Discussion / RockBox on Sandisk Cip Sport Plus
« Last post by highintensity on March 22, 2023, 11:50:23 AM »Hello All! Recently I bought a Sandisk Clip Sport Plus (32 GB), and I researched online for how to install RockBox on it. However, none of the available RockBox mods for Sandisk players support the Clip Sport Plus. Has there been no mod developed yet for this Sandisk player? I would do it myself but I do not have enough coding experience. Any help would be appreciated.

Rockbox General Discussion / What do you set your Quick Screen buttons to?
« Last post by Dook on March 22, 2023, 08:21:59 AM »Want to get a good idea of what people use as their quickscreen buttons, for a theme I'm working on. Personally, I use left and right for shuffle and repeat and then up and down for brightness controls!

Rockbox Utility / iPod 6th gen Can't get it installed on Mac OS
« Last post by McLemon on March 21, 2023, 09:00:51 PM »I downloaded the latest version 1.5.1 but when it downloads it says its version 1.5.0 and tells me to update it. The link just wants me to download the same file again. It lets me go through the process of doing the install but always fails after it tells me to release the menu and select buttons. After it tells me to release those buttons I do immediately and the progress bar goes up a little and then it fails saying the iPod is no long in DFU mode. I am using an iPod classic 6th gen. I am on MacOS Ventura. one thing that does keep happening though when I hod down the menu and select buttons finder pops back up with the iPod and asks if I want to restore the iPod. That's when the install fails. Is this a MacOS problem and I should try on a windows computer or is it an iPod problem?
