Title: Grundig Mpixx 8000 Series (Telechips TCC 7801)
Post by: luebecktricker on September 13, 2008, 08:06:09 AM
Hey,
I am a proud owner of an Grundig Mpixx 8400 ;D.

As I had a look inside, I discovered many similarities to the cowon d2.

First of all, here is the Grundig website with some details:
http://www.grundig.de/index.php?id=934&L=1

here is some technical data:
Just what I found on the chips.

Telechips TCC7801
OOCX-YNR-UG
NOZXW.03.1
0752

WM 8973G
72BDVE9

IT TSC
2003I
7A2X

Samsung 804
K9HBG08U1M
PCB0
CSLK60X2

Hynix KOR
HY5S5B2CL
FP-6E C752A

(and a snall steel thing with 12000MHz)

I have made some Photos of the Board, have no Scanner, but the quality is good eventhough.

If you wuold like to have more Information about this device or if you are interrested in porting Rockbox to this, please don't hesitate to ask.

I can't wait to try Rockbox on this. But I have some questions about the savety of my player;). First of all, there is now firmware/firmwareupdate for this player aviable in the internet. Can i make a copy of my current one with Tcc-tool or some similar software? I can put my player into (not normal) USB-Mode when pressing the Menubutton while starting the player, but I just see my normal data partition. At first I would like to have a Copy of my OF before replacing it with an (maybe unfunctional) Rockbox. Any Ideas?

You'll already have seen http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/NewPort, right?

The first steps should be to create a wiki page for your player and note down as many technical details as you can find (ask in IRC if you need write access to the wiki). Then the difficult part: find some interested Grundig owners with the necessary skills to do the porting work. We can't do it for you! :(

Well, there's no point worrying about those details until someone's done the porting work - there's literally nothing to try. A D2 build might physically run on your player, but you almost certainly won't see anything until somebody writes an LCD driver... and a button driver... and... etc.

(btw. If you can see the normal data partition, it almost certainly isn't USB boot mode.)
