Title: Replacing iAudio X5 LCD Screen
Post by: Festivus on December 16, 2018, 06:32:18 PM
I have an iAudio X5 with a non-functional LCD screen. If you see below, the LCD screen just shows a white-ish pattern that looks a little pink in a slim vertical band to the far left of the screen and a scrambled pattern at the bottom.

Recently, I bought another iAudio X5 to harvest its screen and replace the one in the X5 with the white screen.

I have a couple of questions before I go any further:

I would greatly appreciate the help.

I disassambled my X5L too and know what you are talking about. Removing the small board with the headphone jack is not easy, but you should lift the board from the opposite site and pull the side with the jack carefully out. It seems that the backlight is working and that the display is defective, so you might get your X5 to work again.
Here are some guides I found:

and another one for the display: http://www.munz.li/2007/04/21/replacing-the-display-of-your-iaudio-x5/
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and applied a little more pressure; the daughterboard popped out just fine and I successfully swapped the screens from one X5 to the other. It's been years since I've been able to use it and I'm getting reacquainted with it all over again.
