Title: 240G ipod 5.5 upgrade possible with rockbox?
Post by: int19 on October 22, 2008, 06:42:30 PM
So I currently run rockbox on my iaudio x5 60GB, but I'm running out of room, so I'm considering purchasing a used 80G 5.5G ipod.

I was reading about the new 240GB Toshiba Drive, MK2431GAH, listed here:

Supposedly it is PATA and has a ZIF 40 connector:

So it looks like it will physically fit and the connector will plug in. BigDisk issues aside, it *should* work, correct?

AFAIK it should work fine, taking into account that you have to compile a custom build for LBA48, as you said.  I'm looking to pick a couple up as well.  I haven't been able to find any place that actually has them yet, though.

Cool, that's what I was thinking.  Does the ipod 5.5g have a USB to ATA chip like the archos?  If not, we should be able to access the full drive as one partition too, correct?

The USB mode is software driven in the iPods (and other PortalPlayer based players).
