Title: New USB mode questions
Post by: AstroBoy on March 02, 2009, 09:43:48 PM
Once the USB data cable is connected it stops playing music.  Any way to tell it to just charge and not use the data so that music can be played?

Any chance it could do data and play at the same time?  That would be cool!

If you use a power only cable, it still plays music and charges.

Oh, good job.  Really happy with RB.

It works the same as it always has. Since you didn't tell what player you have, I can't tell you what button to hold, but it's in the manual.

No, there's no chance to offer data and music at the same time with UMS. The way things work more or less makes it impossible (at least in a practical sense).

oops, sry.  I have the sansa e250.

Same as always?  In the past my e250 would crash or reboot if I connected a data cable.  :)  Until a few days ago, I could never do anything with a data connection unless I used the OF.  If it did not reboot, I must hold power for 15+ seconds.

I do have an issue.  It seems to crash when the battery is really low.  Maybe the battery voltage power-off threashold is too low?

I also noticed that after the current playlist is done, the next button press is ignored.  Not sure if this happens all the time.

Same as always?

What he means is that this behavior (http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-sansae200/rockbox-buildch3.html#x5-380003.3) (3.3.  Charging) has been there since before the Rockbox USB stack was enabled.

I found it:
3.3 Charging
The player can be powered over USB without connecting to your computer by holding
Select while plugging in. This allows you to continue using the player normally.

I have not tried it yet.
