Title: Unicode Font Question
Post by: xiang on May 07, 2010, 08:10:30 PM
Hey guys, just wanted to ask if someone after all this years created an unicode font compatible with japanese/chinese/korean characters, which is smaller in the font size (i mean 8 or 10), to fit the screen of the sansa clip. Unifont is just too big. I tried to make it smaller by myself but was unsuccesful..

I think the complexity of Chinese and Japanese characters makes it somewhat difficult to have them look decent (or even at all correct) at smaller font sizes. That said, I'm sure if you could find a smaller bitmap font with Chinese and/or Japanese characters you could probably convert it using the tools on the wiki here (http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/CreateFonts). Assuming the font you use is licensed correctly (GPL or CC-BY-SA likely preferred) you might even be able to submit it for inclusion in Rockbox by default.
