Apple - Installation/Removal / Re: 4th Gen manual installation woes
« Last post by makeprop on January 23, 2025, 07:14:06 AM »Update:
Seeing as the Mini 1g has a direct CF connection I wanted to try isolate the adaptor out of the equation and just look at the CF -> SD adaptor within the 1g.
I have a 1G here whose microdrive is in otherwise working condition.
I've attached an MBR snapshot of the 4gb microdrive read via victoria
I have also attached the 64gb SD in the CF adaptor read via Victoria *through* the Ipod 1G
Then to compare that its mbr is readable fine via the SD card reader I have, you can see that there's something the CF -> SD card reader is doign that corrupts the MBR somehow.
Will try another two adaptors (all the same brand).

Hardware / Sansa e200 v2 - SD card writing issues
« Last post by Zakalwe on January 23, 2025, 06:31:01 AM »I have a 1TB microSD card in my Sansa e280v2, formatted to FAT32. A minor issue that has always bothered me more than it should is that I cannot reliably transfer files to it from a computer via the cable to the Sansa - some files get copied, then it hangs and fails. Sometimes the whole card filesystem gets corrupted in the process and needs formatting. It is not a big deal in practice, as I take the card out and use a dedicated SD adapter to write instead, that works flawlessly and is probably faster anyway. Once the card is back in the Sansa, it has no issues browsing and playing the tens of thousands of files.
I always blamed this on the outrageous card size (by 2006-standards), or maybe my Sansa was a bit broken, I thought. However, now more by accident I noticed that I can transfer loads of data to the card in the Sansa via the cable if I boot it into the original firmware first. Is this expected behavior? Is there a way I can get the same transfer reliability when it is running Rockbox?

Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: Bug? “Error accessing playlist control file” using %Vp
« Last post by RetiredTeacherGuy on January 22, 2025, 06:25:12 PM »sure, you can select "View Current Playlist" from the Playlist Catalogue's context menu:
https://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch5.html#x10-1040005.10.1
Right but for theming purposes, when I try to use %Vp it seems to return empty if/until I start the playlist. Example: The iPod has been shut down. I start it up and if I have %Vp in a viewport, I don’t see any info, but if I restart the playlist then come back to the sbs, I will see the info.

Rockbox General Discussion / Regarding the rockbox subreddit
« Last post by cujm on January 22, 2025, 01:30:27 PM »Hello everyone.
I am the lead moderator for r/rockbox and have been for about 10 years. I requested the sub back when I regularly used rockbox because it was abandoned and I felt like I could contribute. I'm willing to admit that I don't regularly use rockbox enough these days to be competent enough to support the community. And ever since the reddit API change I seldom use reddit. I was wondering if there's any admins/devs/veteran community members that are willing to come on as a mod(s) to support the community over there. There are over 5000 subs and regularly receives multiple posts a day and I feel bad when people reach out to me directly thinking I'm an active contributor or dev and I don't have much help to give.
Looking forward to feedback on this. Thanks
