The USB screen should work for everybody now. The experiment with ASCII text didn't work out but I think it is cooler now anyway.seeing that screen made me laugh. Very unique...

« Last post by RetiredTeacherGuy on January 24, 2025, 04:03:54 AM »I just thought it would be neat on boot to see “recently played” to remind the user of the current playlist. I’m not familiar with screenshot

Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: Bug? “Error accessing playlist control file” using %Vp
« Last post by chris_s on January 23, 2025, 10:43:24 AM »That is true. Even though it appears to be possible, I'm not sure the custom skin playlist viewer was ever expected to be included in an SBS instead of the WPS. As you noticed, it only shows something while playing or paused.
Showing current and upcoming tracks when playback is stopped - including after a reboot - would require larger changes - most importantly, automatically "resuming" a playlist (i.e. parsing its control file) when the player boots up, in order to restore the playlist state. And then making sure the state is maintained. While this should be possible, it has certain disadvantages as well, such as slowing down the boot process: Depending on your dircache size, this could be very noticeable due to the fact that the system currently waits for the dircache to have finished loading before resuming a playlist.

New Ports / Re: HiBy R3Pro Saber 2022
« Last post by speachy on January 23, 2025, 10:07:57 AM »Here is Linux kernel source code for HiBy R players (HiBy OS based) https://www.reddit.com/r/Hiby/comments/1i5q7ac/comment/m85skc5/
It's a kernel source dump for the HiBy R1 only.
The R3 series at least uses a _very_ different kernel (3.10.14, vs 4.4.94 for the R1)

I tried again with another compact flash adaptor (same brand) and this one at least seemed to let me move a few steps forward.
1. Having the SD card formatted as FAT32 allowed iTunes to let me attempt to restore it, but it didn't do anything after that.
2. Having it formatted via NTFS wouldn't let me restore it, nor would exFat.
3. I then tried uploading the MBR of the 4g microdrive to the 64gb SD card via the ipod and then Rockbox, at least went through the motions, of installing onto the ipod.
However this still didn't work upon rebooting, presumably becuase the parition tables are still messed up somehow.
I suspect something is up with the adaptor such that it's messing up with the way the parition tables are being read.
