Title: I knew iPods were badly constructed...
Post by: Zsan on July 31, 2007, 01:01:08 PM
Not the worl'd best title, I know. This has more to do with the electronics, btw. My iPod won't turn on, That's to say, whether I hold center, Menu+Center, or any other button combination. Switching Hold won't help, and even USB or normal power won't help, at all.

I'm going to ask: Can Rockbox have to do with this? Otherwise, I'm asking Apple to fix it for me.

Rockbox won't cause your device to simply not power on. Following Apple's instructions on how to reset it will work fine on a functioning iPod.

Have you held 'Menu'+'Select' for at least a minute?  Sometimes it can take a while to recognize the button combo.

And, just for completeness, the correct way to turn on your iPod is "Menu" all by itself, which isn't one of the 'all the combinations' you listed so...

Really? I turn mine on with "select".

Both Menu and Select *individually* are acceptable ways to turn it on.

(tries it)

Well lookie there.  I hereby relenquish the snarkiness of my previous comment.

Owned this thing for 15 months and never hit select by accident to turn it on.
