Title: Ipod Classic Support Coming Soon!?
Post by: cowlishaw on November 01, 2007, 11:25:09 PM
Hey Guys, I'm curious to know if there is going to be support for the new Ipod Classic, with Rock Box... I own the 80 gig classic... and have learned to hate iTunes.  :'( I would like to know if anybody is working towards this!? I'm using Yamipod as an alternative and it seems to be functioning alright. Any help is appreciated!

No, I don't think there's been very much activity toward this.  It uses a different chipset to previous generations of iPods and I understand that the firmware is encrypted.  We still don't have a port to the 2nd generation Nanos because of encrypted firmware.

A port will happen when/if enough people with the device put the work in to get code running on the machine.  At this point I wouldn't hold my breath on this target.
