Hi all,
Installed Rockbox on my H140 last night and all seemed to go well but it doesn't boot into Rockbox, if I try and install it again it says that there's an existing installation and I can see a .rockbox directory on my H140.
I'm obviously missing something - any suggestions?
Cheers,
Andy

Sounds like you haven't installed the bootloader. What steps did you take to install?
-
I clicked the complete install button and followed the wizard but thinking about it that does seem likely, can I just install the bootloader or will I need to remove the current installation from the device?
D'oh - user error - I'll give it a go tonight.
Cheers.

You can just install the bootloader.
Maybe try the manual installation (http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-h100/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-130002.2.2) of the bootloader.
-
Also of note: the finishing steps you need to take to really install the bootloader on the H100/H300 series Irivers as described here: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-h100/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-140002.2.3. If you chose the "complete install", I would think that the necessary files are already there but I don't have much experience with the Rockbox Utility and no H100 either.
Edit: Please chose a more descriptive subject if you start a thread next time too as the posting guidelines ask you to and it will also help you getting more help.

I changed the topic thread to something more descriptive.
andyholl: You have to perform a firmware upgrade from the iriver firmware in order to install the bootloader. Make sure you have a patched iriver firmware (that has the Rockbox bootloader patched to it; Rockbox Utility should take care of this for you); once you do the upgrade, Rockbox should load the next time you power on your H140.

I did the post install firmware upgrade from the player (the install process asked for a hex file - I provided 1.66 which matched the version on the H140).
-
And what happened? Did the player update and then turn itself off?

Rockbox Utility (since 1.0.8 ) does show the necessary steps to complete the bootloader installation as you can see in the attached screenshot.
