Title: Clip+ "USB device not recognized"
Post by: yu_raider on March 25, 2012, 06:00:59 PM
I installed Rockbox on my Clip+ via Rockbox Utility and I have to start the original firmware manually every time I want to connect the player to USB. Otherwise it just boots Rockbox and I get the "USB device not recognized" message. Any ideas on how to make it boot the original firmware every time I connect it, if it's even possible?

I have the same problem as the above user, but I used the current build (3.10) installer with my clip+.  Not sure what I've done wrong, but no pc will recognize the player.

nevermind, i get it...i think you mean i have to install a version AFTER 3.10 but not including 3.10 (i thought after meant including 3.10 as well)

Yeah, after and before actually have pretty different meanings :)

"USB was enabled after the release of 3.10. Users should either reboot into the Sandisk firmware for USB transfers (see manual section 3.1.3), or upgrade to the current build to enable rockbox USB mode. "  I have 3.1and it doesn't recognize my device "unknown device"

USB is NOT enabled in 3.10. You need a more recent build.

Rockbox 3.1 did not support the Clip+ at all.

I also installed Rockbox 3.10 on my Sansa Clipp.  Now when I plug it into my usb it doesn't show up at all. So i basically have an mp3 player  where I can't put music on it....   Is there any solution to this?

You could read this very thread you posted to and install a version that includes USB support. The current release is 3.11.2. so I am not sure why you are installing an old version.

This issue has been discussed many times and answers are throughout the forum, the manual for your unit and the status notes for your unit.

Even if you have a reason to stay with your current install - which clearly states that USB support is NOT included, you have functioning player. Simply boot into the Sansa firmware for usb support and load music. It is all described very clearly in the manual for your version and throughout on Clip+ specific thread.

Hello again,
I've updated Rockbox to 3.11.2 and now when I try to connect it via USB I get a neat usb image on my Clip+'s display but I still get the USB device not recognized thingy. I now also have to hold the power button for like 30 seconds before it powers off (it becomes nonresponsive when I plug it off the USB).

Any ideas?
