Title: IPod 5.5Video: Clickwheel very touchy
Post by: q8520 on December 28, 2007, 05:38:16 AM: I searched the whole forum but couldnâ€™t find a matching topic.
My problem is as follows:
Every time I click on the select-button, the highlighted Song or menu-point slide up or down. So I fail to catch the wanted song. I have to get back and try again, even more carefully.
For the first, I thought I wouldnâ€™t be carefully enough, but after trying the original Ipod-Firmware, I realized, that it is not me â€“ itâ€™s rockbox, which is more touchy whith the click-wheel.
Is there any solution to this problem, because itâ€™s absolutely impossible not to touch the Wheel, by clicking the select-button with the thumb.

Post by: Llorean on December 28, 2007, 12:14:02 PM: I'd say it's going quite a bit too far to say it's absolutely impossible to not touch the wheel. I have an iPod Nano, which has a much smaller wheel, and have no problems not touching the wheel when pressing select.

I think the only solution to this is you being more careful when using it. Making the scrollwheel ignore touches would just worsen the general responsiveness.

Post by: psycho_maniac on December 28, 2007, 03:11:35 PM: I used to have this problem when i had a patched build with the scroll_wheel patch. but this was fixed. Have you not updated your player for awhile? maybe your not used to the scroll wheel being able to scroll very fast?

I use the build 15948 and will update today.
The problem is hard to explain. I'm not really sure if I touch the wheel accidentially by clicking the select button.
Just compare the behavior of the original firmware and rockbox. Then you may know what I mean.
I ask myself if this problem will be better, if I could change the Theme to another with bigger fonts. I wonder all the time, why most of the Themes work with small or smallest fonts. Icouldn't find a theme which is as similar to the Original as possible.
Could someone suggest one?

Post by: MaW on February 01, 2008, 07:54:53 AM: I'm not aware of any themes which are similar to the original firmware. My own custom theme does use rather larger menu fonts than is customary, but it's not ready to release yet - and it's not much like the OF either.
