put the bootloader.erosq file (and it must be named "bootloader.erosq") on the SD card before running "Install" in the bootloader menu

D'oh! Of course!
I got sidetracked (hunting for the bootloader file) when reading the instructions and then I just assumed it would install the bootloader from memory somehow.
This solved the issue.

So far everything seems to be working fine now with the hw4 files...
Let me know if there's any specific testing I can do to further validate this device that came with v2.2 firmware.

Hardware / Re: Having and using two volumes on an iPod 6th Gen classic

I seem to have a 6G working with 1.5TB, though don't quite understand how it happened.  (I didn't restore it with iTunes at all, because iTunes refused to 'see' it).

As in final post in this thread - the significant point is that accidentally booting in OF mode doesn't seem to corrupt anything (and I don't quite understand why not).

I guess it's fixes to RB that means synching in RB bootloader mode works without causing corruption (as I remember it, that used to be very unreliable, hence you needed OF mode to synch), but what I don't understand is why for this ipod it doesn't mess things up to boot in OF mode (though it does boot with a blank display in that mode).

Thanks for the heads-up that there is a new hifiwalker firmware version. I'll download it for safe keeping. Hopefully a .upt file can be made from it in order to do uninstallations.

I removed the links to the bootloaders from the jztool bootloader installation part of that page to reduce the amount of duplication - they are linked on the main jztool wiki page, but I can put a note there that that is where they are linked to.

EDIT: Unless you mean it's missing from the JztoolInstall page... I see I have a typo there in the table, hw3 is listed twice. I'll correct that.

I suspect your "File Not Found" issue is that you need to put the bootloader.erosq file (and it must be named "bootloader.erosq") on the SD card before running "Install" in the bootloader menu. That's what the install option does, it just reads that file and writes it to flash. You will need the "hw4" one from the download site, but you must have already found that if you got Rockbox to boot.

Hopefully the hardware has not changed... It sounds like it at least boots somewhat.

Other - Installation/Removal / Hifiwalker H2 v2.2 - File not found (2) error on bootloader install
« Last post by siroj on July 14, 2025, 03:51:14 PM »
When trying to install the bootloader, I get the "File not found (2)" error.

What I did:

  • Drop .dropbox into the sdcard (v4)
  • Boot the bootloader.erosq-v4 file via jztool
  • Backed up original bootloader
  • Booted Rockbox --> Works!
  • Power down, boot via jztool again
  • Install bootloader --> File not found (2)

The wiki states this error is usually related to a faulty .rockbox folder, but I can boot .rockbox (non persistent) just fine.

I'm using the bootloader file I found here: https://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/aigo/native/
The installation instructions page doesn't seem to link to any bootloader file. Not sure if this is the correct one.

The current firmware on the H2 is "v2.2", it's newer than what's listed in the wiki.
Here's the dump of the original v2.2: https://files.joris.be/erosqnative-boot.rar

Hi,

So is this from tempotec variations V1 player?

How did you get amixer to run?

Does tempotec variations V1 player have downloadable firmware for that player on their site?
Helloo, yes it is from the new Tempotec Variations V1, i used ota file (test_program) to trigger adbon script, adb shell'ed, amixer'ed and those were the results.

No firmware files at the moment, but i can send a dump of files to make a maybe working upt file. It's rumored for a new firmware to release in some time though

Feature Ideas / Re: AutoEQ preset file support
« Last post by rockbox_dev123 on July 14, 2025, 08:41:11 AM »
Bumping this thread to state that https://autoeq.app/ has the ability to export EQ presets in Rockbox format.

Browse to any headphone preset you like and under "Select equalizer app" select "Rockbox" and you will then be able to press the download icon underneath the EQ table.

Hardware / Re: Battery tables

Thanks for the reply.

When I have some free time I'll see if I can patch so that the theme tag shows a consistent charge value regardless of how charging is handled internally by Rockbox.

Sadly i also haven't been successful at repacking the upt files, your genisoimage turns out to be the closest with it's binary content, though I noticed the structure of rootfs changing which could totally answer our question of why it didn't boot.

Changing settings in genisoimage to get the untouched rootfs structure didn't work in a timely manner, so i used xorriso  ;D

xorriso -as mkisofs -volid 'CDROM' -JRU -joliet-long -o $workingdir_out/$updatefile $workingdir_out/image_contents/

This one didn't modify rootfs, and from what i have seen the beginning of xImage is also in tact, so i believe it could work.

I have to wait for Tempotec to drop an update to test doe

Also while i was trying to fix my mistakenly wiped mtd2 partition, i've found Ingenic ftp server and credentials, cuz they seem to change that thing once in a while.

I've noticed Tempotec Variations* V1's firmware is based mostly on Hiby R1 firmware, in my case amixer shows:

  Mono: Playback [off]
Simple mixer control 'Digital Filter',0

Hardware / Re: Is there a way to enable the "Battery" option in settings for the Sansa E200 v1?
« Last post by djrz on July 13, 2025, 12:57:29 PM »
Thanks for the tip but I've circumvented this with the Multiboot option.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to generate a new battery table. The battery benchmark plugin generated a battery_levels.default with the exact same table for the 750mAh Li-ion battery. I'll make sure to update this post whenever I get a chance to work on it.
