as the title suggests... there needs to be a guitar hero like game on rockbox.

I'll say this before a mod gets to it first. Feel free to post it under "Feature Requests." As you probably already know, the devs are currently working on bugs related to overall stability and usability.
On a secondary note, the major problem facing this request is lack of accessory support on all the players.

As unviable as this requests sounds, i am intriqued.
if it were indeed possible to produce a plugin like this, there is no reason you couldnt hack up an already existing controller into something that resembles a guitar. Having very little programming experience myself, i dont think i am one to take on this task, but i am behind anyone who is willing to give it a go. well, good luck with an... unrealistic, but none the less, great idea.

Ironic that, just yesterday, I decided I wanted to make something along those lines.
I'm planing to to make a ddr type thing, where arrows rush passed your screen and u press the arrow buttons in sync. It wont have any musical interaction thought. the intention is to have the user play their own music in the background.
Hopefully something will be made and contributed some time in the near distant future. However, at the moment, I'm still struggling to compile (takes ages ><).

Looks like release 3.0 missed some critical bugs. No coffee or beer, no dishes or vacuuming done? What sort of "release" is this?? pffff

This is relevant as we, per title of this thread "need" a guitar hero game (or otherwise ... Rockbox will fail on the market? People will think all devs are jerks? Your Ipod will catch fire? Or ...?
IMO this whole thread as per its title is useless. Stating that some idea is needed to be implemented is ... well, you'll guess it. Is there even a reason to keep this thread unlocked?

Isn't the whole point of this forum feature requests/ideas? OK, it is phrased a little oddly, but surely this is just a feature request/idea for a Guitar Hero style game.

Well, then it should be phrased as a feature idea instead of discussing that and why we "need" it ... IMHO.

I agree, I was referring to the entire thread, which at least in the context of this forum, isn't :)
