Title: m4b files
Post by: tdb on January 09, 2022, 06:16:47 PM
Hi

Tried to play a few m4b Audiobook files (approximately 10 hours playtime per file) and none of them play on my rockboxed sansa E200 (tried 3.14 and 3.15 firmware). Work fine on my desktop.

On the feature page it is indeed flagged as "no" so I assume it is not possible but the footnote seems to suggest there might be an option. Currently converting two of the files to mp3's - will check if they will work on the E200 after converting.
Of course it would be nice if it is possible to play them directly.

M4B is just AAC so that will work. In this case it's probably the length of the files that is the problem. Parsing very long MP4 files eventually runs out of memory. Try splitting them into 1 or 2 hour chunks and they'll probably work.

Converted to MP3 with the same length and these work fine. Size doubled though, will give splitting a try for other files (saves space and converting time). Good to know m4b's should be able to work. Thanks!
