Rockbox Utility / iPod Newbie - Install query
« Last post by Dark2024 on Today at 08:47:19 PM »Hello Folks,
I hope this is the right formn to post this query
I used to use Rockbox on a Sanza Clip Disk many years ago, and having recently come into possesion of an old 6G iPod Classic (80g), thought I would give RB a spin again.
I am thinking of getting the iPod updated (i.e. SSD/card fitted, new battery etc.) and have read a few posts on the forum about installing RB on these updated iPods
Some posts suggest you need to manually install a dev build due to some SSD issues, other posts seem to suggest that the problems are solved.
So my question is, can the existing installer be used (i.e. to install 3.15) or do I follow the manual install process (to install a dev build), as decribed in the following links?
https://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-ipod6g/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-110002.2.2 - 2.2.2 Manual Installation
https://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,54105.msg249838.html#msg249838 - Ultimate iFlash guide for iPod Classic
Thanks in advance!

New Ports / Resources for Telechips TCC890x: TCC8900 & TCC8902

Although, Telechips claims to support WinCE, Embedded Linux and Android, they now fully focus on Android development giving other OSes a lower priority. However, the development board and BSP must be obtained from Telechips and BSP is not (legally) available for download on the internet, so you’ll need to contact Telechips at TCCSM@telechips.com.
However, as often, it seems a version of the Linux and WinCE BSP has been leaked on the internet:
See http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=16030
where they found a torrent with the following files:

TWS89x_600.zip 21.91 MB
with source, schematics and documentation.
The guys at XDA forum have also started to hack Augen Gentouch 78 a tablet using TCC8902 platform. I’ve already blogged a video review for this Android tablet. The reviewer did not like the device, but this was not directly related to the performance of Telechips device.
Here’s also comparison between TCC8900 TCC8902 chips (and some other telechips series namely TCC91xx and tcc92xx)

« Last post by eriolloan on Today at 08:15:00 AM »I'm not there yet.
Using these formats for tracks it works perfectly for mp3 files, but when selecting a folder containig FLAC files, rockbox freezes completely....
edit: Should I open another thread for this problem ?

New Ports / Re: AIGO EROS Q / AIGO EROS K / IRULU Surfans F20 / AGPTek H3 / HIFI WALKER H2
« Last post by smbgaiden on Today at 12:59:35 AM »Getting the plugins to work and made decent progress with avoiding defining the scroll wheel as PLA_LEFT/RIGHT and some minor fixes on oversights in some of the plugins.
Hit some dead ends with the apps/plugins/puzzles series. Anyone understand the button firmware well and these puzzles button logic well?
In rockbox.c in apps/plugins/puzzles, first issue is the call to buttons_get_w_tmo returns decently with any button or scroll action. However the call to button_status shortly afterwards will not report on either scroll direction. Since the local variable button is reused on the button_status call then there is no longer any record of the scroll actions and the games like Black Box,etc, can't move right and left. I saw button_status is simple and just returns lastbtn. And lastbtn is set in the ticks function. Perhaps a race condition on button_get_w_timeout using 0xFFFFFFFF unblocks with the key before the message posts to button_queue? The only likeness i could find was brickmania which has a similar button_grt_w_tmo followed by button_status, except two differences, firstly is that it works for the button_status call and secondly the call to button_get_w_tmo has a much shorter timeout than the puzzle series. For puzzles, is it the button queue post vs the immediate return from button_get_w_timeout after a button is pressed that prevents the lastbtn to get set? The physical buttons like back, menu, prev, next, and etc don't suffer the issue hence thinking it is related to the queue.
i implemented a workaround to the button_status issue, but don't think this is something to propose as a commitable patch. The button_status workaround was: make a copy of the return of button_get_w_tmo, after button_status is called do ifdef for erosq_pad, inside this if the copy of the button had a scroll left or scroll right set then OR | them into the return of button_status
variable.
I noticed this has ADB and have used it successfully. However there's no logcat. a what's a good way to do printf style debugging to explore the button_queue vs ticks vs button_status vs button_get_w_tmo logic? Thank you

« Last post by eriolloan on March 17, 2024, 09:00:59 PM »Sorry, I guess I was not reading the doc properly, I found out I can use %strip to do just that
%strip = "<n>" removes n characters from the beginning of the display string. This can be used to hide initial field(s) included only for sorting.

Rockbox General Discussion / Sony NWZ-E384 Not Turning on, white Screen when pressing reset.
« Last post by Oskar123 on March 17, 2024, 08:28:39 PM »Hi everyone
I have just finished installing rockbox when i plugged my nugget into my laptop to load some eqs.
Whilst doing that the Walkmans screen suddenly turned white and showed me some cryptic messages.
Since it didnt respond, i unplugged it to reboot... it didnt go so well.. screen just turned black.
Now the laptop wont register when i plug in the walkman, nor will it turn on. when i press the reset button, the screen turns white.
I would really appreciate if someone would help me figure this out, since the walkman is meaningfull to me (i got it when i was in first grade )
Thank you in advance! :^)

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Database/tagnavi : Only show track title while ordering based on track number ?
« Last post by eriolloan on March 17, 2024, 07:59:46 PM »Hi !
Is there a way to indicate I want tracks to be ordered based on the track number without it being displayed ?
I'm fiddling with tagnavi but I can't seem to find how to only show the title while retaining the track ordering, it defaults to alphabetical ordering...
Can I silently filter in the %format or alternatively hide parts of the produced string ?
Does some hiding markup exist like say :
if "\" meant the value is to be parsed when ordering but not to be shown ?
...I'm not even sure the sorting must happen in the %format... help ?
____
To give some context from a user and (admittedly pedantic) UX designer point of view :
I searched here the best I could but I could only find a few related issues (same question about ordering except in playlists and files). If I missed it, can you redirect me to the appropriate thread ?
Thanks.

To give some context from a user and (admittedly pedantic) UX designer point of view :
- I don't want to see disc and track numbers when browsing the database. After tagging my tracks and naming the files appropriately, I don't want to concern myself with these values anymore, espacially when enjoying my music. Now it's up to the db to do some magic with it for me.
- The way it displays feels unnecessarily heavy and really distracting. The varying widths of the added characters mean the track titles rarely lign up so the list is harder to parse at a glance.
- And of course alphabetical sorting is not an option for track listing. XD
I searched here the best I could but I could only find a few related issues (same question about ordering except in playlists and files). If I missed it, can you redirect me to the appropriate thread ?
Thanks.
