Archos Recorder 20 (v1) Audio Dropouts
« on: April 18, 2007, 12:42:48 PM »
I have an Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 (v1) with version 2.5 of RockBox on it. I have a large folder with 3,000 mp3s in it and like to create a playlist with all files and then play on random.

From time to time the audio will drop out during playback of a track. It does not appear to be track specific. It tends to happen at the beginning or end of a track (first or last 30 secs. or so). Playback shows as progressing through the track (the time is incrementing), but no sound is being played. When it happens at the end of a track the silence will often continue into the beginning of the next track. Skipping back to the start of the track or to the next track will clear the problem.

I've searched the forums to the best of my ability but have not been able to find anything similar. Has anyone encountered this before?

Your problem could be related to you having 3000 files in one folder. Rockbox will have to do a lot of processing to find the next file to play from your folder.

You should create more folders and reorganise your MP3's so that there is a smaller number in each folder. Then create a playlist (F1 - Playlist Options - Create Playlist) of all your MP3's and play that.
