H120 Playlist Creation with iD3 Tags

(1/2) > >>

tracyrick:
I can't access my player via my PC anymore (USB connection toast I guess) so I need to create playlists using my player.

My mission is to create a new playlist picking songs one at a time. But I can't figure out how to do this.

My songs are all in iD3 tag mode using tag cache rather than file mode.

I've tried doing this using the manual and searching these forums, but I am not getting it. So far it appears that either my songs must be in file mode, or I can only create a playlist with all songs on my player.

Can anyone give me a step by step version of creating a playlist - one song at a time - with songs in id3 mode on an H120? Would be much appreciated, thanks.

Llorean:
Just look at how to use the "Insert" function in the manual.

tracyrick:
Thanks, I wish it was that easy! Using insert causes a new dynamic playlist to be created with the song/directory selected. Whereas I want to add songs to a saved playlist.

When I go to "playlist catalog" and select "add to playlist" it says "no playlists." So maybe I need to move my saved playlist file (called yyz.m3u in this case) to the playlist catalog first? Do you know how to do that?

The manual suggests to do this by moving the saved playlist to the /playlist directory, but I can't figure out how to do that. I tried going to my playlist and selecting "copy", but then I don't know how and where to "paste" if in fact that is how to do it.

Llorean:
The easiest method is to run the playlist, so that the playlist is already playing, and then use the insert or insert last features.

For the playlist catalog to work, you'll need to make a directory called "playlist" in your root, and then paste yy.m3u into it.

Once you've copied the playlist, navigate into the playlist directory.  Once inside the /Playlists directory, long select/bring up the context menu.  Choose paste, and your playlist should now be seen in the directory and thus in the catalog.
