My Toshiba Gigabeat cannot display time and date

It is not a problem for any specific WPS, but everyone, instead of correct time and date, it shows something like

Wed b e Y - H:Mc

anybody knows why this happens?

The Time/Date tags have changed, and you're using outdated WPSes. See the CustomWPS wiki page for the new format.

I'm having the same issue with my Sansa e270. Is this something that can be addressed with a universal patch from Flyspray (if so, I can't find one), or is it something that the creator of a given WPS has to correct in their code?

The creator has to correct it in their code, or you have to correct it in your copy. It's a fairly easy fix. Just find the time/date tag in the WPS, and remove it, and replace it with ones using the code in the CustomWPS wiki page.

OK... first minor problem in fixing this. What does the old format for time/date look like? I can't tell which lines I want to alter to the new format.

It looks very similar to the new formats, it should start with a %c I believe. It just doesn't have as many %c's as the new format.

Your best bet is to look at what else is around the time/date and find the tags for them in the WPS, and look what's between 'em.
