gigabeat memory problem, reformatting?
« on: April 18, 2007, 09:30:07 AM »
Hi all,

I put rock box on my gigabeat f40 a couple of days ago and I am very impressed, however there is one problem I encounter.  When I remove all of my media from the gigabeat, konqueror tells me that my gigabeat has 40 % (18.5 Gb) of its memory used.  When I try to  add more media (more than (18.5 Gb) i get an message saying insufficient memory.

I do not understand why my window manager sees more data than actually exists.  Perhaps it is because of a database file in the original toshiba operating system, but I dont know enough about the file formats to start removing things.  Is there any solution to this problem aside from reformatting the hard drive? If not, how to I go about doing that?

Cheers

mike

I'm guessing that you have music on your player in a hidden folder loaded by the original Toshiba software.  If you're using Windows, right-click on the player, click "properties" and make sure that the "hidden" attribute is not selected.

I have hidden folders enabled and nothing shows up.  Right after posting I found a similar post which talked about the command dosfsck.  This command fixed the problem.  BTW i run Sabayon Linux  ;)

Thanks! rockbox rules!
