4th Gen iPod, GtkPod Rockbox combi.

Hey there,
I'm not sure whether this question has been asked before, but a search on "gtkpod" didn't bring up what I needed.
So, I apologize if this has been asked a gazilion times before.
Here's the thing:
I've read that Rockbox will not recognize an iPod databases created with iTunes. Now, I have kicked Windows out the door and warmly welcomed Linux to host my computer a while ago. So, I'm not using iTunes anymore.
In order to get my iPod working on Linux I use gtkPod to manage my transfers back and forth pc/iPod.
Can I blindly asume that my iPod database has been automatically rebuilt by gtkPod and will therefor be recognised by Rockbox, or am I on the verge of starting out with a clean-as-a-whistle iPod (and thus spending a few hours transfering music back to it)?
GtkPod did do something to my database, because I had to fix it the first time I used it. My iPod didn't show all the music I have on it at first use with gtkPod, but then it started doing something and after a while I had my whole list of music available again.
The main reason why I want Rockbox on my iPod is to get the damn thing (scuse my language) to playback gapless. I listen to live albums a lot and really hate the ickle gap in between songs. Spoils the whole experience for me. I was about to kick out the iPod and resort to Creative since they have gapless playback on their players, but then I discovered Rockbox.
I soooo want Rockbox to work on the ol' iPod.

GTKPod builds an "iPod Database"
Rockbox will recognize the iPod Music just fine, it just won't use the iPod Database. This means that you can either browse to very awkwardly named songs (not the best plan), or you can use the Rockbox Database feature which will automatically find and index all compatible music on your device.

Wow, that was fast.
First of all, sorry for posting on the wrong forum, as you can see, I'm new around here.
Thanks for the immensly quick reply. So, if I understand correctly, gtkpod didn't do anything special to my iPod database other than making it readable for gtkpod itself?
I do have most of my music backed up on dvd, so it wouldn't be a real problem if my music won't be recognised, though it would be a lot more convenient to have it all work like a charm. It's not exactly my favorit way to kill time to run through a pile of unorganised dvd-r's (yup, my fault) and searched for my backups, then restore them (about the full 20 gig) back to my iPod. But I'll do it gladly just to get gapless playback to work.

As I said, the easiest solution is to just use Rockbox's database feature. It'll find all the music on there.
Rockbox just doesn't read the iPod database, it can still access all the music files (as long as they're not from the iTunes store).

Great! Many thanks. I'll get on it as soon as I find the time (really soon).
