e200tool help

(1/1)

CraigD:
Is there a description someplace explaining the various commands of the e200Tool program?  Something that provides more detail than the "e200tool --help" command or what is provided by Daniel at http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/e200tool.html?

This seems to be a very powerful program and could be used for more than simply recovering a dead Sansa.  For example, can it be used to read or write specific blocks from the NAND and if so, what would be that syntax?

TIA,

Craig

No, there isn't but every sub command has its own help text and the full source code is available.

CraigD:
Thanks for the quick reply.  I did grab a copy of the source and am walking through it.  I'm not doing something correctly, or am misunderstanding something.  For example, I tried using it to read the first few sectors of the NAND (the "read" command, correct?).  I give the command:

./e200tool read try1.bin 0x0000 0x40000

It reports back that the device was found and the reading done.  It creates a binary file that is 256KB in length, but the contents are all 0x00.  I would have expected various random data.

Am I giving the wrong command?

Thanks again for the help.

Craig

CraigD:
Oops, I see my own mistake.  I misunderstood the addressing scheme.  Its now doing what I would expect.
