failure to power-up...

<< < (2/4) > >>

Llorean:
Well, if you JUST did that, either hardware failed normally, or you're not doing the Menu+Select thing properly.

The iPods have a bug in their flash bootloader that sometimes causes them not to want to wake up when the battery has run out (even if charged some after). Are you really, really doing the Hold Switch, AND holding Menu+Select (not Menu+Play, or any other combination) for a whole 30 seconds, without wiggling your fingers?

pianofreq:
yeah i went through it twice more... i turned the hold switch on and off twice, i counted really, really slowly and kept my fingers still...

Llorean:
Then something has most likely failed.

AiZ:
Hello,

I've the same problem, with a 1Go Nano. Yesterday, I plugged it in my PC, Apple logo appeared and... No life no more. Tried a couple of resets, no way.

But this morning, I try again to boot and because lights were low, I could see a small "flash" 5 to 6 seconds after the Menu+Select combo. So it looks like my nano try to power up but there's a power shortage.

Now, how can I charge it, only having the USB cable? When I plug this cable, nothing appears under Windows (my wife's PC) and unfortunately I don't check USB state under my PC (linux).

Any advice? Thanks in advance,

Llorean:
If you just plug in the USB cable, it charges, nothing has to happen in windows.
