iPod 5.5g hard drive capacity after install?

Hi, I am using an iPod that was identified as a 2048 byte sectors version ...

I noticed that the mbr-video30gb-2048.bin boot record seems to set up a partitioning scheme that is 15 GB for the iPod and then 15 GB of free space. Sorry I couldn't find the answer elsewhere, but is there any recommended workaround for this to use more of the 27 GB?

Trying to nix that free space and make one huge partition screws it up. Anyone else seen this? I'm resorting to the Hunt for a Windows Box.
