mixtape theme for iPod Video 5g

Made a simple little theme for vanilla Rockbox that I wanted to share.  It's inspired by tapedeck.org and uses a couple of ideas (and one texture) from phkTAPE theme by Paulo H. Kikunaga.

I wanted it to look like a worn old favourite mix tape.

This is my first attempt at something like this, and undoubtedly I've done some things incorrectly, so comments and suggestions would be very appreciated!

edit:  Also available now is the Mixtape C90 theme, with an english cassette.

Nice WPS. works well on standard build.  Just wondering why it says "...bork..." when there is disc activity.  Also the backgrop named in Mixtape.cfg

backdrop: /.rockbox/backdrops/lines.bmp

doesn't match Mixtape.bmp supplied in the .zip file.

Otherwise very good.  Although I'd have to say (I dont want to sound too picky) I would have preferred an english cassette with C60, but of course I am biased

I've correct my version now so the backdrop works on the menus.  I also changed the date format on mine from m/d/y to d/m/y and also changed the clock to 24hr and removed the am/pm.   Just my preferences, but this is what is good about these wps themes, easy to tailor to suit the needs of the individual.

Woops, that's very strange.  The zip I uploaded had lines.bmp intact.  Oh well, I'll change the wps and re-upload it.

The tape I chose was more based on it not being too dark and easy to read off of.  I really just grabbed the first one that I saw that really worked for me.

As for "...bork..." on disk activity, that was just something I put in so I knew something was happening.  Also, my friends and I have a thing for the swedish chef from the Muppets.  I replaced it with "...seeking..." for public consumption.

Aghhhhh!!!


Sorry that was my fault...  The uploaded theme was indeed correct, but when I put it on my own player, for testing, I renamed the backdrop...  I like all the files (WPS CFG and Background) in a theme to be identifiable where possible - Makes it easier to clear off old unused ones etc.

Anyway, long story short - wrong files got uploaded...

There is now an version 1.1 online, so all should be well again

No worries, accidents happen.

Anyways, this isn't a very complex theme, but I hope some folks are enjoying it.
