"Pretty" record interface?
« on: April 12, 2007, 10:26:38 PM »
I looked around various forums and am wondering, are there any alternatives to the bare bones looking record menu?  With the fancy wallpapers, fonts and color schemes, why has nobody come up with a nice looking recording menu?  If they have, how do I find and implement them?

I am looking for something that is laid out like a good recording Engineer type might want to use.  Nice easy to read fat meter displays, simple readout of the format, time in record and time left on the drive, normal stuff.  I love RockBox and show it off quite a bit but I bought my H320 to do some serious recording on short film sets and it's bare bones record interface is, well, a bit lacking.

No slight meant to the fine code monkeys that have dropped a lot of time into the project, it's just that you want to show off a cool piece of hardware when folks ask about it and the plain text record screen is a bit off compared to the fine quality of the other more configurable sections of the menus.  Then again, maybe I missed a huge chunk of info on this someplace.

Thanks folks.  If you have recording mods, please let me know.

I must say that I find it odd to judge a recording device by its looks.

However, I agree that it would be nice if it looked better, with more visible peak meters etc.

There is the Recordings topic where a patch "Recordings Enhancement Pack" (REP) is widely discussed.

I've not used it but mybe that's a place to investigate.

Sound's like the REP is the thing for you. Have a look here.
