Can't access H120 in "My Computer"
« on: April 12, 2007, 06:48:46 PM »
H120 Rockboxed CVS-0610012, Windows XP

I've been using this player for at least a year with no problems. And now this problem for some reason. Same problem happens on different computers and different USB cables, so I think it's the H120 that has become a problem.

Problem: When I plug in a USB cable, my PC makes the noise that indicates it recognizes the player, but the player will not show up in "My Computer", so I cannot access the player anymore. Player shows up in "Device Manager", but without a drive letter. Player also functions perfectly and plays perfectly, but I just can't access it with my PC anymore so can't change the songs on it, etc...

I have tried:
1. Going into "Manage" under "My Computer" and reassigning a drive letter. This does not work, and in fact causes "My Computer" to crash and then my whole computer to crash. Slows my whole computer down - something very wierd going on here.
2. Turned player off, connected USB cable, started up with record button pressed down. Does not help.
3. Same problem happens with a 2nd PC at work that never has problems.
4. I can connect my Creative Zen Micro with the same USB cable and my computer sees it with Creative's Mediasource software, no problems.

Player used to always pop up in My Computer with a drive letter, no problem. But now it won't. Did something get corrupted somehow? Is there a way to wipe the whole drive and start over, without being able to access the drive via my PC?

Thanks for any tips!

Please, read our forum guidelines BEFORE posting. This was not an "Installation" question.
