MY IPOD PHOTO CRASHED!!!

I put Rockbox on my ipod, and everything was o.k. But then I downloaded this patch from the Itunes store that was suppose to format my ipod , but now my ipod just shows an icon showing a plug(the charger) and an arrow pointed to an outlet. My computer doesn't recognize my ipod when i plug it in either. I tried charging it but it would just shut off by itself. Is my ipod permanently dead?

Try having iTunes deal with it in disk mode. See the sticky in this forum for how to get into disk mode and other useful things.

what is "disk mode" ??? What does it look like? When I tried going into Disk Mode it didn't work. Then I tried while my ipod was plugged in and the screen just went blank.
