MY IPOD PHOTO CRASHED!!!

I put Rockbox on my ipod, and everything was o.k. But then I downloaded this patch from the Itunes store that was suppose to format my ipod , but now my ipod just shows an icon showing a plug(the charger) and an arrow pointed to an outlet. My computer doesn't recognize my ipod when i plug it in either. I tried charging it but it would just shut off by itself. Is my ipod permanently dead?

Try having iTunes deal with it in disk mode. See the sticky in this forum for how to get into disk mode and other useful things.

what is "disk mode" What does it look like? When I tried going into Disk Mode it didn't work. Then I tried while my ipod was plugged in and the screen just went blank.

Disk Mode looks like the screen that your iPod shows when attached to a computer, only black and white.

If you aren't getting to it, you're not pressing the buttons at the right time.

Ok iPod Photo to the rescue!!!

The iPod photo has a nasty restore process that requires the iPod to be plugged into an external power supply when preforming a restore. I know for a fact that the iPod Photo comes with an AC adapter. All you need to do is plug your iPod's USB cable into the adapter, plug the iPod onto the other end of the cord, and finally plug the adapter into a wall socket.   Don't think i can give more detail

In the case that you don't have an AC adapter then your iPod is the closest possible thing to bricked that you can achieve with rockbox. *claps*. No worries there are many 3rd party adapters on the market or you can buy and official apple AC adapter.
