There is a separate config option to control the backlight whilst hold is on, have a look at your settings.

Someone thought it was usefull enough to put time and effort into coding it.
But great, thanks for sharing your opinion.

Firstly "u" is not a word, please be aware that our forums require the use of real words for the most part.

The backlight while plugged in option is very useful for any player that has a dock, is used with speakers or a home system, or otherwise is played while plugged in as well as portable. While plugged in, it's often nice to have the screen constantly on so that you can read it without having to press buttons on your player. While on batteries, clearly you might want it different to save battery life.

Just because it's useless to you doesn't mean it's useless.

Just to clarify, this is referring to the backlight on hold option, not the backlight while plugged.

Oops. Well, I use that option a lot too:

This gives me the ability to manually turn the backlight on and off, without having it dependent upon keypress. "On" when hold is off, "Off" when hold is on, is very useful to me. Absolutely no wasted backlight time as long as I use the device efficiently myself.

I'm quite fond of the flexibility in controlling the backlight.
