iAudio x5 60Gb and Database initialisation
Llorean:
If it's only affecting your player, odds are it's one of your files. What formats of music do you have on your device?
mmc19761:
Almost all are .ogg files, but some .mp3 and some .wav. In the process of converting all to .ogg which will be completed shortly. I will then reload the X5 and see what happens.
Things have moved on a little anyway, however, in that after shutting down after a freeze and then restarting, I suddenly got a different message, forget what precisely, but I guess it was putting the 8 search critera together for the database.
I need to look at the manual again to remind myself of how that database functions should work, but the problem now is that although all the files seem to be there (in the MUSIC folder), not all can be picked up through the database (3503 out of 4224). Going into the settings screen and asking the database to 'update now' gets a a message saying that updating is going on in the background, but there never seems to be any change to the number of files that are accessible via the database.
In checking hw many files had gone into the database (3503) I have noticed that file 3503's title has corrupted from "I'm Not Down" (I don't have the skill to find the keystrokes to reproduce it, but basically the initial I has been replaced by an i with an umlaut, a 1/4 fraction and a copyright symbol). Might this be the issue? I will try renaming or deleting the file and see what happens then.

Now all .ogg files.
Deleted everything from x5.
Reloaded all music.
Tried to initialise database, but completely back to square 1 - ie, original message:
"I04:IllInstr
at 000002A0"
If I stop the database initialisation process, then I get a limited number of files in the datadbase and the database functions seem to work for those files, so what must be happening is that the x5 or the software is freezing up once all the files have been found and then not letting the database form itself.
Any clues on what I might be doing wrong, any one, before I head back to iAudio's rather uninspiring software?
Llorean:
My guess is that it's one of the non-music files on your device, then. Do you have files that aren't either from rockbox.zip, the fonts zip, or music?
swagman:
I just installed the dual boot as described here: http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12671&page=9 and I am having the same problem with an iaudio x5. The only non music file i have is a .jpg and i have no .wma files. Songs will play properly until i ask the database to search for music, after that i get the same error at some point during the first song i play. I have tried reinstalling a few times to no avail. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you in advance!
