Using Ipod hdd, need image
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:18:21 AM »
Hi everyone! I recently got a gigabeat at an auction and the harddrive wasbad, so i swapped in an ipod hdd that i had laying around (because its the same type of hdd) and now i need the image of a gigabeat harddrive that a fellow mentioned in http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=9509.15

basicly its a 20 gb harddrive and i just need to imaged so that the gigabeat thinks its the right harddrive (i get a system error 00000020 on boot)

Also, (even after using the toshiba formatter) gigabeat room doesn't recognise it. After installing Rockbox i still get the same error.

Thanks in advance!

Oh and one more thing, the loading bar starts at the 1/10 mark (where it starts) and doesnt do anything for like 3 seconds, then it goes to the error screen. So im also thinking that its the firmware, but i cant see where to update that...

Is this the first time you've installed Rockbox?

Have you taken a look at the Gigabeat Port Page.
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort
On this page, there are "Recovery Instructions."  Have you tried those yet?

If this is a new installation, have you installed the Rockbox bootloader and renamed the original to FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG? Take a look and follow closely the Install instructions on the same page above.

Lastly, you may want to use the Modify button next time, instead of creating  separate posts.

It loads FWIMG01.DAT when the bar hits approximately 50%, it seems like it can't load the firmware from the flash ROM, or it there's some hidden sector on the drive which needs to have the right data. If you want the image, ask toffe yourself.
