Scrollwheel patch commit
« on: April 07, 2007, 06:11:28 PM »
Is there ever going to be a commit for using the scrollwheel on things like bubbles, invadrox, etc.? It would make things a lot easier...

Bubbles already uses the scrollwheel, unless you're talking about the one on a different target than the iPod, specifically the 5G. Anything else, I know nothing about.

What are you talking about?  What platform are you running and what build are you using?  As far as I know, the button mapping for all of the clickwheel ipods (4G, 5G, Nano, etc.) should be the same.

I have to agree invadarox would be easier on the scrollwheel. Rockdoom would be SWEET with the scrollwheel too ;D

I object, though. The scrollwheel would be MUCH better suited for turning in Rockdoom. I don't know why it seems as if I'm the only one who thinks this. No one else seems to have tried to change it for turning, nor even wanted it.

Please implement strafing on doom for the next official build of rockbox.

Left-> Scroll Left
Right-> Scroll Right
Strafe Left-> Left
Strafe Right-> Right

And find another way to change weapons.

Then doom would completely rock on Rockbox.

I don't know what sort of options are available on your player, but Rockdoom should let you set custom key map.  I have strafe assigned when I play on my Gigabeat.

I'm on a Sansa Fuze V1.

The problem is I tried altering the controls, but am still not able to strafe.

Somebody please incorporate the patch into an official build of rockbox.

Yes, I see that scroll wheel is not available as a custom "key".  As it stands, the patch is not able to be accepted into SVN.   The most recent version was uploaded in 2007, so someone will most likely need to re-sync the patch to the current SVN code and make sure it meets Rockbox standards before it can be accepted.  If you're interested in this maybe you could set up a development environment and at least try to get the patch to apply to current code.
