Sometimes all my settings get cleared

Seriously, it's very hard to do with the most recent bootloader. Under what circumstances are you doing this regularly enough that it's actually causing you a problem significant enough that you want to remove the possibility of recovering an iPod that locks up instantly on boot?

Dont get me wrong, I think its very valuable feature.  I am not doing it on purpose but lately rockbox is continually clearing my ipods settings.  I do use the hold switch alot (I did not think I did it, but apparently I have been..)  I didnt think I switch it on at this point, but my settings are cleared often and it obviously this is the only reason it could be happening.  I dont know, just something I was not aware of I guess.

Llorean:
Your settings could also be cleared if config.cfg is deleted or corrupted, or unreadable for some reason.

The hold switch isn't the only reason.

You are running the latest officia build, right?

Much too complicated ;) Since the settings are saved in the file /.rockbox/config.cfg (at least since a while, if not your build is really outdated) that "resetting" simply doesn't load the settings file upon boot. Just manually load the file and your done.

I disagree completely. Just imagine an ipod with color display and both background and foreground color set to the same value -- how do you want to fix that?

I know, and that's what I meant!  :)
