ipod video (320x240) Simplex WPS

With this WPS, I went for a fresh, simple easy to read yet informative WPS. After getting to know the Gimp a bit,
and messing around with fonts, layout and alternating sublines here's the (almost) finished product.

I set out to make this with the goal of being able to read the ipod while driving, but not at the cost of making an
awkward, ugly, uninformative WPS. ( and I think I've successfully avoided that)
The next area alternates the next Song, Artist, Album
The info area alternates this:
 ID3 yr, bitrate (avg) size KB b
playlist name (or 'Dynamic' if not a playlist) track# of total
battery time (charge)  volume level db

There's also icons for repeat and shuffle.

This is the first WPS I've made that works with the official build, so I am quite proud of it. I also found how to put the progress bar and the current time on the same line.

The only thing I didn't do was the background, it is part of the KDE wallpapers, all I did was grayscale it and
adjust the brightness.

Thats a pretty cool wps!  I like the backround a whole lot too.  I definitly will add it to my iPod later.   8-)

Thanks guys, I'm sure that nearly all the little details have been ironed out, so expect to see me post a link to the wiki and rockbox themes tonight or tomorrow. I find that whenever I make a WPS, I do a solid days work and then need around 3 days to tweak it to "perfection" whether it be placement, timing fixes, getting the tags to display properly (mostly conditionals), or just rehashing the damn thing.
But when all's said and done I just like making a good WPS that I'm happy with, and if it just isn't done for me it just isn't done for you guys
(plus I hate uploading things three times over because I forgot a % sign)

fixes since my first post:
-moved play button down so that info text doesn't crash into the image
-db changed to dB
-proper display when ipod is charging (chrg)
-playlist name is on separate subline from playlist position
-added total track time to file info line
-alignment of text
-code cleanup

line would need to be changed to work with latest builds

Edit: Fixed the wps and uploaded the zip to the wiki, should work with new time tags now.

This WPS is kind of geared towards white ipods (of which I own) and I had the realization that this would probably go great with the black ones two if I inverted the colors. The result is my newest WPS, creatively named Simplex2.
Will be uploading this right away as there weren't any changes except the images.

I quite like it.  Its very clear and when you're driving its good not to have to squint at the display to see the artisit that's making that awful noise coming from your car speakers.  I tend to put my entire collection on shuffle and with compilations and album tracks, quite frequently you get stuff you've never heard before.  So a quick glance is all you really want, if you are to avoid that on coming car

Thanks for the wonderful WPS. Simplex2 looks awesome on my black iPod. However, on the WPS screen the minutes show up as %M. I redownloaded the theme twice and it still shows up like that. Also, I am using your Ice-60G-20070325 build.

The reason why the minutes are like that is because you're using my build. To fix it open the .wps file (found under .rockbox/wps/simplex2.wps) and change the line that says:

%ac %ck:%cM

%ac%c k:Mc

The WPS code for the time has just changed, so since my build is built with source before the change it wont show the time properly. I wanted to make a WPS that is compatible with the current builds, so this is why I kept the time code current.
