Gigabeat F40 Music Playback!
« on: April 03, 2007, 12:02:35 PM »
I just recently upgraded my F40 to the newest Rockbox build and found one problem, I am unable to playback my music the way I use to on my Gigabeat. I would normally just pick an artist hit play and it would go through their albums then onto the next artist via alphabetical order (*see example). It seems I can only play an album at a time which then repeats itself unless I choose another artist/album. Anyone know a way around this without making a playlist that has to be updated ever time I add music.

*Example:

Artist- 3 doors Down
_Album- (2000) The Better Life
Artist- 311
_Album- (2004)Greatest Hits '93'03
Artist- Avenged Sevenfold
_Album- (2003) Walking The Fallen
_Album- (2005) City Of Evil

.......and so on

Also noticed after updating database my font goes back to default.

Thank You

there are several ways to do it I think:

if you enable "Recursively Insert Directories" in the playlist settings you can insert the artist directory and it will play all albums

or

if you enable "Auto-Change Directory" in the playback settings it will continue with the next album

maybe someone else knows another way to do it?

if you enable "Auto-Change Directory" in the playback settings it will continue with the next album

You will also need to make sure that the "repeat" setting is "off" for this to work.

Ok "repeat" is set to off and "Auto-Change Directory" is set to yes, and it just goes back to the track/song selection menu for that album when it completes the album.

Edit: Do to typo- "no" should have been "off" for repeat settings.

"No" is not one of the options for the "repeat" setting.  Are you sure you're checking the correct setting?

Main menu --> Settings --> General Settings --> Playback --> Repeat

Are you selecting music through the file browser or the database?  If you're using the database, the "auto change directory" setting will have no effect since you are browsing using the database rather than directories.

Febs

Yes I was using Database I am going to try File Browse and see if that works for me.

Thank you all for your input. I'll let you know if this resolves my playback issue.

Update: Febs that worked thanks again for all that helped!
