aznofazns:
here's a 25 megabyte sample of the video clip i was referring to earlier with the extreme lag. i tried playing it on my computer and it's flawless, but it's laggy on my gigabeat. resolution is 320x180ish, audio bitrate is 128 kbps, audio sample rate is 44.1 khz.

Llorean:
Firstly, the file you've uploaded is 320x240 at 30fps, which is higher than we claimed mpegplayer supports, so you shouldn't have expected it to play back properly in the first place.

Secondly: It works fine for me. AV sync is fine with a current build for me. How old was your build when you tried it?

aznofazns:
i updated my build yesterday. As for the resolution and fps, i thought the gigabeat was supposed to play video at 320x240, and the fps for all of my previous non-lag videos was around 30. For example, the Elephant's Dream sample video in the wiki is 320x240 and the fps is 30 and it plays back flawlessly. For the video i uploaded, there seems to be no sync problem, but there is still noticeable lag.

Llorean:
Yesterday. Please, CURRENT.

As of when I said what I said, it had no severe lag.

And no, if you look at the wiki page, 320x240 is 28fps, as a maximum. This was true until sometime yesterday. Any video that was 30fps MIGHT have played fast enough, but we never claimed it would, so the choppiness would be expected.

But you said bad sync, and I asked for an example of the problem. There is no problem with this current video, you tried to play an unsupported resolution/framerate combination, and it behaved exactly as we would've expected. You just didn't check the wiki page, and didn't know it wasn't supported. If you use a current build though, it's fine.

Is there still an AV sync problem, that you didn't give us a sample of?

And, elephant's dream should be 24fps, film frame rate.
